Vecernji List is the Croatian daily with the largest circulation. Formerly officially a state-owned publication, its current ownership structure has been the subject of avid speculation (especially by the opposition and the independent press) since its sale to an anonymous off-shore company registered in the British Virgin Islands. It is alleged that Miroslav Kutle, "Tudman's favorit tycoon", and through him HDZ (the ruling party in Croatia) are the true new owners of the paper.
