American Media Take Active Part in the Election Campaign in Yugoslavia

American Aggressor Supports Kostunica

In its characteristic propagandist manner The New York Times lauds the presidential candidate of the so-called DOS

Washington's support for Vojislav Kostunica has arrived just in time to allow the voters to clearly see who stands behind this presidential candidate and whose candidate he is.

The American aggressor that lead the brutal attack of the NATO on sovereign Yugoslavia has clearly demonstrated that by publishing a complimentary article in today's The New York Times, which is the best sign of American support for the candidate in the Yugoslav elections backed by exactly Washington and foreign factors.

In the clearly recognizable propaganda manner, the New York daily lauds Kostunica. Everything is ideal in his biography, all spotless, without "Communist blemishes", in addition to modesty and unassuming manner.

Well, Washington backs such a candidate. As the New York daily openly states, Washington has after last year's seventy-days-long bombardment continued to diligently work on the destabilization of Yugoslavia through attempts to overthrow legitimately elected Yugoslav authorities.

Copying the arrogance of the US administration, whose mouthpiece they are, the American media such as The New York Times do not refrain from openly writing about American illegal and criminal actions of direct meddling in the internal affairs of other countries.

A part of the action carried out by the US against Yugoslavia is now the direct meddling in the forthcoming elections in FR Yugoslavia. The chosen method is proclaimed support to the candidate whom the administration sees as a pliable tool of the American interests. The manner in which this is done is well-known and easily recognized.

Americans launch polished, embellished and incorrect stories about "their" candidate, they proclaim him for a "fighter for democracy", they hide dirty laundry and launch a trial balloon about his, alleged, strong support among the people.

Thus, using the recipe of the American propaganda, they exert pressure on the public opinion in the country and at the same time accuse the regime of electoral fraud.

This time, Washington has also applied all components of that well known criminal tactics, giving clear support to Kostunica and "betting" on him.

The author of the propaganda pamphlet in The New York Times, Steven Erlanger, had little trouble to somehow justify Kostunica's purported attacks on the NATO because of the bombardment, but that obstacle was overcome in a strikingly fake, patronizing tone. It turns out, according to Erlanger, that Washington is after all not bothered by Kostunica's criticism. The Administration has suddenly become "tolerant" and that is yet another proof that this is nothing but a manipulation and premeditated scenario of fake patriotic self-portrayal by Kostunica, having in mind that the Americans have realized that the Yugoslav people deeply and with every right despises slavish traitors who cooperate with the aggressor, regardless of their colors.

Washington has decided that among all the deeply discredited opposition politicians Kostunica has the least amount of "baggage".

Besides he wasn't the one, who like a lackey "kissed Madeleine Albright's hand", as the American journalist reminds of ignominious behavior of the leaders of the so-called opposition.

Kostunica "merely" shook hands with those who kissed Albright's hand and that, apparently believes Erlanger, shouldn't bother the voters too much.

"Regarding tactics, it is also important for Kostunica to keep distance from the Western verbal and financial support," points out The New York Times, putting the emphasis on the work tactics.

Kostunica carried out only a fake separation from Djindjic and others similar leaders of the so-called opposition by organizing a supposedly separate election campaign headquarters. Such a move, as can be seen from the article published in the American daily was planned with the obvious goal to clear Kostunica of as many "Western blemishes" as possible.
