That would be the shortest explanation of the phenomenon that could have been observed in the past few weeks, when we were simply swamped with numerous reports on the true version of the NATO aggression against our country. Almost half a year after the end of the barbarian actions aimed against the civilians, NATO's former media allies have started to sing a different song. The very media that were backing NATO during the 78-days-long bombardment as well as before its start, have started to reveal the facts and data that are without any doubt indicating that it was nothing but a carefully planned, pure crime.
In a "better ever than never" mode, the appearance of a significantly different type of articles is welcomed as a certain satisfaction for our people: a confirmation that we have lived to see the truth in a crazy war with the greatest media empires of the world. However, it would be dangerous to overlook the present technology of manipulation that is hiding under an alleged confession of the western media. Actually, it is a maneuver aiming to draw attention from the current truth and the events in Kosovo and Metohija by revealing the late truth on the bombardment that occurred half a year ago, Serbs being the victims in both cases.
A superficial survey of the Western press proves that such talk is not a conspiracy theory or political paranoia, according to the accusations of the domestic mondialist circles. How can it be, let us ask, that the most influential media in some western countries have started to compete in revealing details that are forming the real truth on the aggression on our country while the same articles are being quite selective and reserved when it comes to crimes, abductions, killing and expulsion of the non-Albanians from Kosmet? The media experts would immediately agree that the quality of reporting on the two issues is significantly different.
While media continue with scant reporting on the perfidious theft of Kosovo and Metohija from the Republic of Serbia, the real intent behind the articles about the bombardment is to create an impression that the criminals are starting to face up to their guilt. If this is an attempt at repentance by a part of the most militant western media, how come that the question posed to the readers is "were you lied to?" instead of "are you still being lied to?"? Likewise, in an intensified analysis of the bombing, the illustrious western media won't pass the red line that would imply full confession and the obligation to pay reparations and punish the guilty. The hypocrisy that was demonstrated during the bombardment through statements about humanitarian aid and the so-called protection of human rights is now replaced with a confession of the aggression, but without a campaign to significantly change the situation in Kosovo and Metohija.
The example of the respected Lord Carrington is quite illustrative in this sense. Week after week continues to astonish the well-informed public with statements in which he doesn't hide his fondness for the citizens of Yugoslavia and regret for what has happened to them. He astonishes because it is no secret that he is a member of the Trilateral Commission, the so-called shadow international government that pulls the strings of the global policy and turns national governments across the planet into its services and services of the multinational companies whose interests they represent.
To assume that the "angel of mercy" could talk without a blessing of the Trilateral Commission would be absolutely naive.
Why has the Western media machinery chosen this way?
Besides effective cover up of the present catastrophe in Kosmet, it is also an attempt to reduce the notable anti-American climate prevailing in the largest part of the world. At the same time, a phenomenon that was considered here during the aggression, a brutal method used in the case of FRY that is becoming a usual behavior in the global international relations of the greatest power towards the others, is now an important topic for the internationally renowned reporters. The USA, refusing to limit its nuclear power and potentials, demonstrates how the experience from our country is being spread around the world.
When the respected British "Economist" magazine, aimed at the business world, publishes an article filled with criticism of the USA and warnings about "brutal American behavior", than we can discern an attempt of the Western journalism to carry out realignment not waiting for the reflexes of the politicians, weakened by their association with power.
It can be noted that such maneuvers of the "New York Times", "Washington Post", "Sunday Times", "Independent", "L'Figaro", "Foreign Affairs" and the other papers are actually efforts to rehabilitate the postulates of the free Western journalism and regain honor in a part of the public, so cheaply wasted by legendary Shea together with Alastair Campbell and many others who are applying for the place of the modern baron Munchausen. The fact that they are now reporting on the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, Serbs being the victims, without passion expressed during the aggression and its preparation, demonstrates that the cleansing of the conscience is being carried out in small doses.
Cynics would say that the present expulsion of Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija, as Albright noted in an "editorial" manner, would be dealt more openly with and in more detail by the reporters of the Western media only after the job is done.
