Protect the Serbs in Sarajevo the Way They Protect Bosniacs and Croats in Banja Luka, Prijedor...

by Mehmed Buhic, Nova Bosna, Frankfurt, Germany, 12/30/95

The recent peace agreement, sometimes referred to as the Paris agreement, states that the Serbs can stay in their houses and continue their life with those with whom they have lived for decades. Obviously, there is nothing unclear about this except that some are pretending to be crazy and saying that "something isn't clear." The ones saying this are mostly the Serbs who during this war have looted Bosniac houses in Ilidza, Grbavica, Vogosca, Ilijas... They moved into the houses and now at rallies howl how these places are their "centuries old hearths." The fact that some of the towns around Sarajevo are 20-30 years old clearly shows how old they really are. Whatever; it doesn't matter whether these Serb hearths are centuries or decades old; what is much more important is what is happening around the attempts that the Serbs stay in those parts of Sarajevo and our state occupied by them.

Soviet Baits

Yes, we understand that our authorities are trying to preserve the multinational and multicultural, secular state of Bosnia-Hercegovina and with it the city of Sarajevo. We also know that this approach opens doors of world institution and gains sympathy of all those who are for the coexistence and the survival of differences. However, we also know that the Serbian nation is something completely different from the rest of the civilized world which , it seems, better understands what those Serbs have done to us and what they would do in the future if given a chance.

Many powerful world politicians, actually their spokesmen, have joined the horrendous campaign that aims to keep the Serbs in Sarajevo and around it. First, a certain French general interceded for the Serbs as if they were, at least, the victims of this war, and not the unbelievable slaughterers whose bloody hands cannot wash even the Drina river across which, if there is God's justice, they would have to flee. That French attempt to protect the Serbs was actually a bait whose purpose was to test the public opinion; when it became obvious that this wouldn't work, the general was recalled to Paris and kept there. After that, unfortunately, the American general, Leighton Smith, who is also in charge of IFOR, promised to the Serbs the delay of the withdrawal from the occupied Sarajevo; more correctly, he promised the modification of the Dayton agreement. To what extent this American general can modify the Dayton Agreement, which even Clinton didn't want to change, we don't know; however we are certain that this is another dirty trick whose victims are the Bosniacs and, with them, the Croats. Our highest representatives have reacted to those moves and, as is usually said in the political jargon, pointed out the consequences of such behavior; therefore, we are now awaiting new plots whose goal will be to deceive our people and our liberators.

Hypocritical and Unseemly Behavior

The attempts of the Serbs and their leaders, most of whom are the greatest war criminals in the history of humankind, are not surprising, especially if one has in mind that we are talking about the people and persons banished from all records of humanity. On the other hand, the ignorance of the world factors of everything that those very same Serbs have done is shocking. Especially since no-one, at least as far as we know, hasn't raised his voice for the Bosniacs, inhabitants of Prijedor and Kozarac, who were the absolute majority of population in these towns before the Serb fascist aggression. As if the dear God hasn't created them.

It seems that those same generals and generalissimus' think that the Bosniacs are sheep who can be fooled by anyone, anytime and even , if necessary, killed. Even more interesting is the fact that during the fuss over the Serbs in Sarajevo, the Serbs who "slid" to Sarajevo from the Durmitor mountain [a mountain in Montenegro] and are now trying to stay where they are, not asking whose houses or apartments they are using and where the actual owners are, in seher Banja Luka they are still killing women, children, elderly, priests, Bosniacs and Croats. It seems that those same world humanitarians don't care about this, as they don't care that much that in that same Banja Luka their convoys with food are being hijacked, vehicles stolen and employees beaten up.

It is not difficult to divine what are the reasons for such a hypocritical behavior of the French and Americans and English, let alone Russians.

One doesn't have to be farsighted to notice the attempts at marginalization of Bosniacs in Sarajevo. Namely, now the data that during this Serb aggression and unprecedented slaughter of the Bosniacs a certain number of mixed marriages were contracted in Sarajevo are being spread everywhere. We don't need to be too intelligent to figure out the actual goal of propaganda tricks similar to those stating how many Serbs stayed in Sarajevo and remained loyal to the current and legal authorities in Bosnia-Hercegovina.

Don't Stop Them!

We don't intend to question the published data which, to tell the truth we don't find all that interesting, but it should be said that the number of mixed marriages and loyal Serbs is so small that is doesn't deserve a lot of attention. Unfortunately, the things are completely different and we are, as usual, falling for such tricks. Again, in us awakens our charitable feeling which protects members of the Serbian butcher people; we are almost babbling with them, making heroes out of them by saying that they suffered more, that they suffered from the torture both from the hills and from their immediate environment (?!).

As usually, we then do favors to those Serbs and give them privileges; it is not surprising to see that on some functions and in some institutions the percentage of Serbs is much higher than their fair share.

Those same Serbs know what they are doing just like those in certain serb citizen councils who are demanding the third of power in the state and insisting to be recognized as a constitutional nation while at the same time they are not touching the so-called republic of srpska. If it were like they demanded, the Serbs from those citizen councils would be given much more power than the criminals from Pale are seeking and have ever sought.

We mustn't forget these facts as we mustn't stop Serbs when they want to leave Sarajevo and its surroundings, let alone stop them when they dig out from our Bosniac soil the stinking bodies of their dead: let them take the bodies to the hills, lairs, and holes from which they have been killing the Bosniacs for three years, making from Sarajevo the greatest mezarje [graveyard] in the world.

No we shouldn't prevent them from taking everything they can from the houses and apartments since those things, although Bosniac property, have been soiled: better let them take it away, so that we don't have to burn it and pollute the air.

As far as the appeal to the Serbs to stay in certain parts of Sarajevo is concerned, one should be precise about it. They should be given the rights which they give to the Bosniacs and the Croats in Banja Luka. They should be kept at their "centuries old hearths", the same way they keep Bosniacs and Croats in Mrkonjic Grad and Sipovo. Of course that they should be brought back to their houses, the same way they bring back the inhabitants of Bosanski Novi, Bosanska Dubica, Bijeljina...

Otherwise we should wish them a good trip all the way to their mother Serbia and a low level of water in the Drina river. So that it doesn't carry them and they don't pollute the river...
