Socialist party city organization secretary, Zoran Cvetkovic, talked at the yesterdays meeting about the significant, visible and recognizable results of the 5 year long activities of the SPS in Nis.
Explaining why socialists suggested that president Milosevic receive this newly established Nis city medal, Mile Ilic, the president of the city council of the SPS and federal representative, among other, said:" Because he united Serbia, put the Serbian people back on its feet in the struggle for preservation of its dignity and united the Serbian people in the struggle for realization of national and patriotic interests. Because he ensured that, in spite of sanctions, the world doesn't see Serbia on its knees. And because he didn't give in under the influence of the world powers and turned Serbia in a ghetto, and Serbian people in a hostage of his interests. And because he contributed to the realization of just goals of the heroic struggle of the serbian people for the freedom of living and national survival; because he preserved peace of the citizens of Serbia and Yugoslavia and saved his people from the chaos of war, and state from war destruction. Because he is for the just peace for all people in the region; because from a barrel of powder he is turning the Balkans into a training grounds for peace; because he with a policy of peace makes the lifting of unjust sanctions certain; and because he with his wise policy leads serb people to an oasis of peace..."
