These days we could have recognized outlines of such a project, which is supposed to be the basis of the victorious parade of the old-new political elite in the forthcoming election campaign. This is an attempt to fabricate aggressive and virulent Macedonian nationalism, as equal (to Albanian) and even key cause of this war and defeat. In that process we'll see recruitment of forces that will during the election campaign forcefully fight against that nationalism, defeat it and thus achieve a victory.
That project is based on the theory that actually there never was a war in Macedonia, only "enmity", the consequence of extensive lack of understanding between the two "ethnic communities" (Macedonians and Albanians), for which "nationalists" are blamed. There were no terrorists trained and equipped in Kosovo and supported by the international community. Slain defenders of Macedonia are victims of the unwise policies of "Macedonian nationalists" and the fact that they responded to the mobilization papers and joined the "Macedonian paramilitary forces". Abducted individuals were not abducted, they are neither dead nor alive. No one knows who and what they are. Amnesty was issued for crimes and criminals. Essentially, peace has come. That beautiful peace is disturbed only by "obstructionists" who pretend to be patriots, and essentially are "nationalists" because they are purchasing weaponry, expect a spring offensive and fail to realize that the "general plan" has succeeded, that the Macedonian authorities are exerting their authority everywhere on the territory of the state, that the Police is entering villages welcomed by flowers and ecstatic villagers, that Albanians political leaders are repeating that they are totally satisfied by the agreement and are condemning terrorism, while the international community supports us and loves us. They fail to realize that we are especially favored by new peacemakers who will accept this peace, rather than the one we hoped for.
Let me be clear. I don't have a problem with that charade as long as it is clear that its true goal is to change the party in power. I am not impressed by either set of politicians and I do not root for either of them. Dnevnik is similarly neutral. Essentially, we want fair elections, in which honorable and capable candidates will win. If you ask me, the current authorities, are neither honorable nor capable, nor were the ones that ruled before them. Something else bothers me. I cannot ignore the attempt to falsify the truth for the sake of an ephemeral political goal (election victory), when the truth is perhaps the only "loot" we managed to get in this war. The truth that we were attacked, that we were victims, that we were disunited, naïve and stupid, and finally were defeated and disgraced in a dirty war.
I personally cannot make peace with the fact that the truth is being falsified by some marginal types who are loading their "artillery" by warming up chairs in Skopje cafes and complaining that we robbed them of satisfaction to practice their "coexistence" at drug addicts' parties thrown in the old city. They have the appearance of stupid and ridiculous Bosnian intellectuals who for months and years kept lying to themselves, their people and the whole world and telling them that Bosnia was not in war, and finally ended up as paupers in exile, while their compatriots at home were spilling rivers of blood.
No matter how much they try, we shall not allow such marginal types to falsify the story of this war, since future generations must learn the truth, learn that the Macedonian nation will not survive if it does not know how to unite and defend itself at the time when its survival is endangered. Those who refer to that as nationalism are simply fools.
