THE NINTH COMMANDMENT

By Aleksandar Daja

Borba, Belgrade, FR Yugoslavia, January 29 1999

"Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor" is the ninth God's commandment, inscribed in stone on the Sinai Mountain and handed to Moses. Being a strong man, the leader of the children of Israel (as played by actor Charlton Heston in a Hollywood movie) managed to go down the mountain and explain the commandments to the chosen people. Since this moment, the whole history of humanity has consisted of consistent violation of all of the Ten Commandments.

I don't know if the Bible is studied carefully at the American military academies and schools, but I am sure that the retired American general and ex-student of one of these schools, who has confused Kosmet [short for Kosovo and Metohija] for a Colorado Indian reservation, had skipped the "Ninth commandment lesson".

As if the small village of Racak in Kosmet has become the top of an iceberg, made of a decade worth of lies, injuries and forgeries that the "American international community" has loaded on the Serbian and Yugoslav people's back. This village has also become a critical point, where the shameful and in the whole history of humanity unprecedented "factory of lies" will disintegrate. Since the beginning of the use of written word (and electronic media of the modern era) there has been no such a ruthless example of using these media or words according to the interests of the Western establishment and its interests. The American and other "strictly controlled media", forgetting the Moses' mission to be an envoy between God and humanity (and using the motto: "The lie is our best truth") bombarded their half-hypnotized citizens, who levitate between the "paradise" of (over)ripe capitalism and the nightmare of consumer society, with the "facts" like: The Serbs are guilty for the disintegration of the former Yugoslavia, the Serbs are guilty for the war in Bosnia, the Serbs are guilty.. for the disappearance of the dinosaurs. Soon, it will be proven that during WWII the Serbs sank Hitler's ships loaded with war poisons. These ships are now lying deep in the Baltic sea and threatening the human race with an ecological catastrophe!

But there comes an end even to this kind of "music" and if the player is not able to stop playing, he sometimes finds the instrument stuck in his throat! That was the case of the Kosmet verification mission chief, who accused the Serbs of committing the non-existent massacre in the village of Racak, and ordered in one go a NATO bombardment and a double hamburger with a milk-shake. After that, he spread his "outrage" in front of the cameras and microphones of the "selected and objective" American and Albanian journalists who had come to Kosmet with his mission. In their turn, these journalists spread the "horrible truth" about the "new Serbian security forces crime", which flooded the media consumers like the Deluge.

Even the American State secretary, who had "prophetically" warned the White House and Pentagon few days before it happened that a massacre (like the invented crime in the village of Racak) would happen (according to the "New York Times"), was a bit surprised with her subordinate's "uncompromising conclusion".

This is all a deja vu, and the same screenplay is found always in the same dusty State Department's drawer, with its threats to Serbia and Yugoslavia. Of course, the usual gang of Serbian "mondialists" rushes to assist that plan. The President of the Serbian Fund for Humanitarian Law, from her warm Belgrade home, criticized the investigating judge from Pristina, one of the bravest women in Serbia, because she had not entered the village of Racak, alone and unarmed under the hail of bullets and grenades, to finish her investigation. We could also hear the voice of our "ex-brothers" form Slovenia insisting on the "NATO action against the Serbian criminals"! (I wonder how much toilet-paper has to be imported from Slovenia to solve the Slovenian inferiority complex towards the Serbian people?)

When everything looked like the well-known case of anti-Serbian hysteria, a miracle happened!

The leading French papers "Le Mond" and "Le Figaro" published the truth about the events in the village of Racak, casting doubt on the OSCE verification mission chief's report about the "massacre of Albanian civilians". Explaining that the whole case was a staged spectacle directed by the so-called KLA (Kosovo Liberation Army) which had overnight moved the bodies of dead Albanians to a single spot in the above mentioned village of Racak, the French papers presented to their public the unfortunately morbid picture of the terrorists shooting at dead people's heads and changing them from uniforms into civilian clothes. "Le Mond" concluded that the two AP journalists report about the police forces action in Racak was contradictory to the Walker's report.

"The Guardian" mentioned that an official with the verification mission stated that some of the corpses in Racak were moved. "The Times" wrote that KLA terrorists shot at Racak from the neighboring hills during the following day, trying to remove the evidence.

The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Vice-President Willie Wiemer rejected the media manipulations aimed to provoke a NATO intervention, saying that he was "deeply concerned such shameful manipulation of our humanitarian feelings"

"Le Figaro" concluded that the Serbian police had no reason to hide or fear anything, since it invited an American TV crew to film the whole operation.

We have never been afraid of the truth about Kosmet, but the lies have always been frightening. Maybe the "new gods" of the contemporary world have had enough of their own lies too.
